Dr. Francisco Lozano obtained his MD, PhD and Immunology specialist qualification from the University of Barcelona. His early postdoctoral research took place at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology (Cambridge, U.K.) together the Nobel laureate Cesar Milstein on somatic hypermutation and immunoglobulin gene transcription. He currently leads the “Immunoreceptors of the innate and acquired immunity” research group at IDIBAPS (Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer). He is Senior Consultant in Immunology at the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona and a lecturer at the University of Barcelona Med School. His research focuses on the immunomodulatory properties of lymphoid and non-lymphoid members of the SRCR superfamily, in relation to autoimmune, infectious and neoplastic disorders.
